Disney World’s mask policy has been updated once again. Beginning August 19th guests will no longer be required to wear a mask in all outdoor spaces.

Here is what guests can expect, in Disney’s own words.

Since May, face coverings have been optional for Guests in outdoor common areas, and beginning Thursday, August 19, face coverings will also be optional for Guests in outdoor attractions, outdoor queues and outdoor theaters at Walt Disney World Resort.

Previously, guests were allowed to walk around without their masks, but as soon as they wanted to enter an attraction queue they would need to put it back on again. Now that is no longer the case for outdoor attractions and queues. Some attractions that this new rule will apply to include Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, Mad Tea Party, and Tomorrowland Speedway.

Disney emphasized in their announcement that all guests ages 2 and up will still be required to wear face coverings while indoors or on Disney transportation, regardless of their vaccination status. Previously masks were optional indoors as well, but Disney reverted back to requiring guests to wear masks indoors on July 30, 2021 due to updated CDC guidelines. However, this newest mask update will give guests more of a chance to relax without a mask while enjoying outdoor attractions if they prefer. Something many guests will probably enjoy with the Florida heat.
