From paved pool decks to a nearly finished dock, the progress is easy to see from above. Here is a look at where things stand and what led to this point.
Pool Deck Paving and New Light Poles
Recent aerial images show steady work across the resort’s pool areas. The quiet pool deck, which was paved last month, now appears to have light poles installed around its edge.
It is hard to tell from photos alone whether these are temporary fixtures or permanent ones, but their placement suggests the area is moving into a later stage of finishing. A bit more pavement has also gone in since the previous update.
The Wetlands and Its Lazy River
The photos also captured The Wetlands, the section of the resort that holds the main pool area and lazy river. This part of the property has started to look more polished.
Crews have planted additional trees around the lazy river’s pool deck, giving the space a more decorative and finished feel. Landscaping like this often signals that a construction zone is transitioning toward its final appearance.
Progress at Lakeshore Lagoon
Nearby, the Lakeshore Lagoon pool area has seen more pool deck pavement added since the last check-in. Unlike The Wetlands, this section has not been decorated yet, so it still reads as a work in progress. Lakeshore Lagoon is planned as the zero-entry feature pool at the center of The Wetlands, and it is set to welcome guests of all ages with a spiral waterslide.
A Quiet Name Change
Guests following the project closely may have noticed a subtle shift. The resort’s primary feature pool was first introduced as Lakeside Lagoon, but it is now called Lakeshore Lagoon. Disney has not publicly announced the change or offered a reason for it. The updated name surfaced in the Disney Parks Blog “Letters from Lakeshore” series, which was last updated in mid-June.
The Bay Lake Dock Nears Completion
One of the more noticeable pieces of progress is the dock reaching out into Bay Lake, which looks close to finished in the latest photos. The main structure appears to be in place, though the roof of the shelter is still missing. Once complete, the dock will connect the resort to the water and tie it into the broader Bay Lake area, where several other Disney resorts already sit.
The Road From Reflections to Lakeshore Lodge
The story of this resort goes back further than many guests realize. Disney first announced it in 2018 as Reflections, A Disney Lakeside Lodge. Construction then stalled during the COVID-19 pandemic, and for a while the project appeared to be shelved for good. Disney revived the plan in 2024 and rebranded it as Disney Lakeshore Lodge.
The reworked resort will be a fully Disney Vacation Club property, drawing inspiration from nature and the way it has shaped Disney artists over the years. Disney has set an opening timeframe of summer 2027, which puts the current construction pace into context. There is still work ahead, but the shape of the resort is becoming clear.
