When Disney released their latest film Encanto in November 2021, fans instantly fell in love with the Madrigal family! From singing about not talking about “Bruno” to shedding a tear when the family comes together at the end (no spoilers!), Encanto-fever is strong among Disney fans. So, that brings us to an important question for families planning to visit Disney this year: Can you meet characters from Encanto in the parks?
Unfortunately, there are currently no opportunities to see or meet members of La Familia Madrigal at either Disney World or Disneyland. However, we did see Maribel show up in Disney California Adventure around the time of the premier of Encanto as part of the Disney ¡Viva Navidad! holiday celebration. Guests could meet and greet Maribel at a replica of “Casita”, the family’s beloved home that appears in the movie, near Paradise Garden Grill. Since the holiday celebration has come to a close, so too has the opportunity to meet Maribel. But, will we soon see her elsewhere at the Disney parks? We sure hope we see Mirabel again soon perhaps during a character cavalcade like we have with the ever-elusive Moana! Stay tuned to DVC Shop for updates on when and where to meet Encanto characters in the future.
Encanto Display at Animal Kingdom
While you won’t be able to find characters from Encanto at Walt Disney World, you will find a beautiful photo background featuring “Casita” at Animal Kingdom. Find the Discovery Island Stage to pose in front of the family home. Some of Antonio’s animal friends are also included in the image. There are plenty of planters surrounding the area, assumingely, to keep guests from gathering on the stage, but it still makes for a beautiful backdrop for Encanto fans looking for a piece of the Madigrals in Disney World! Will this convert to a character meet spot? We can only hope!
Encanto-inspired Booth Coming to Epcot
Did the delicious food featured in the movie Encanto make you hungry? Beginning January 14 and lasting through February 22, 2022, fans can visit the Vibrante & Vivido Encanto Cocina booth at Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts to feast on a few artfully delicious Columbian dishes. Which would you choose: House-Made Chorizo and Potato Empanada, Spicy Ajiaco Soup, or Passion Fruit Mousse with Dragon Fruit Jam? I’ll take one of each, please!
While we aren’t able to meet characters from Encanto, merchandise from the movie is available throughout Disney World. Guests report a large selection of ears, dolls, and toys at Island Mercantile in Animal Kingdom and at, what some argue as the best place to buy Disney souvenirs, World of Disney at Disney Springs. If you aren’t able to visit the parks soon or want to purchase Encanto merchandise before arriving, shopDisney.com has a variety Encanto merchandise available for purchase.
